2016 Goals March in review

  • Run more miles than 2015
March wasn't a great month for me running wise.  I took a break after RnR DC and then was plagued with allergies/asthma death that kept me from getting out there. Between that and adjusting to my new schedule with Girls on the Run in full swing it's been quiet.  The good news is, I still doubled what I ran last year.  Surprisingly this isn't my lowest mileage ever for a march! So while it wasn't an awesome month, I am still well on my way to accomplishing this goal!
  • Log 100 Hours of Volunteering (12 hrs)
Girls on the Run has started so each Monday & Wednesday I spent an hour and half with a handful of elementary aged girls from my school.  Its been fun, although I often feel quite rushed through the process.  It's hard to know if the girls are getting anything out of it, but their teachers have reported that they enjoy it - so its a start!
I also have started putting in some hours on the Pine Bush Trails.  I had become a volunteer naturalist there last year but had failed to document any of my time or observations. I've been able to get some run/volunteer miles on the trail. 100 hours might be a bit optimistic, but at least I've started making progress!

  • Read 39 Books (8/39)

It was a bit of a slow reading month.  It took me a while to get into and through The Likeness.  I wasn't all that impressed with Me talk pretty one day, but I did read it because I thought it would have more about Paris. The bottom three books were read to my class - naturally I loved Henry & Ribsy the most but I think my students enjoyed the Leprechaun in Late Winter best, we read it on St. Patricks Day!

  • Practice Yoga 78 times (34)
Yikes.  I only practiced yoga once.  No wonder I felt like I was going out of my mind this month. I need to get back into a routine!

  • Hike 1 mountain a month (2/12)
Hoooray I finally climbed 2 mountains.  I chose easy/short trails to get myself back out there.  I am a huge fan of instant gratification and both of these hikes offered that!

  • Complete 12 Bucket List Items (1/12)
Nothing officially accomplished but made progress towards some long running goals:
run a half marathon in a new state
climbed 2 mountains on the Fire Tower Challenge
fostering a new dog

So finally after the longest 31 days ever, March is over.  Farewell, looking forward to not seeing March again until next year!
