A few weeks ago I became the proud owner of a Giant road bike. It was a bit of leap of faith since I bought it on ebay. I had it tuned up by the fine folks at Bike Barn and checked for proper fitting. I do think I could adjust the seat just a bit but it is a nearly perfect fit. On our maiden ride I was struggled to get up hill (sine I couldn't figure out how to use the gears) and was terrified of going down hill. It reminded me a lot of when I attempted to xc ski for the first time. (overestimating my skills) This week I decided east from Lion Park, which is far flatter than the west direction.
It didn't take me very long to start to feel comfortable on the bike. I wasn't sure how long I'd ride for but it was a gorgeous day. The trail was busy, but not crazy, it was easy to move around other cyclist and I kept cruising along until I reached my former stomping grounds in Cohoes. Once I hit that end, I went down a few blocks to my favorite little park in Cohoes.
After a short break, I turned it around and started heading back towards my car. I stopped a few times to enjoy the views. My only regret was going without a few bucks to grab an ice cream at either stewarts or le page, which would have made the day even more perfect. I love being outdoors, and I am excited to add this hobby into the mix, now I just need to get comfortable enough to ride with traffic.
