Looking Ahead

When the new year began,  I had some pretty big goals that I wanted to tackle - starting with running my first half marathon of 2014 in March.  This quickly turned into a half weekend , where I thought I would run RnR USA on Saturday and then Shamrock in VB on Sunday.  When it's all said and done I did not train enough.

I also signed a new lease for an apartment, so I'm looking to save some money to help off set the start up costs of said new apartment.  With that in mind, rather than torture myself and hope for the best,  I decided to defer my Shamrock entry to 2015 and cancel my RnR USA.

I am bummed that I am not running, but quite honestly, I am relieved.  For a few weeks now I have been feeling overwhlemed at the prospect of running 13 miles which made me think I had to run 7 or 8 every time  I went out, those longer runs on the treadmill are tough and it was too cold, so rather than settling on what I could do, I kept putting off the runs.

Now that I am race free until May I am much more inspired.

My spring A race will be the Mountain Goat 10 Miler.  Last year, I used this race as my let me get my ass kicked and then start running regularly again race.  This year, I'd like to improve upon my time.  in 2013 I set new PR's for the 5k, 10k, and 15k.  This year I'd like to do the same for the 10 miler, Half and Full Marathons.

So while I feel like a huge flake (first backing don from RnR full then backing of RnR completely, and shamrock, and RnR Raleigh...)  I am comitting to Mountain Goat.

Tuesday: 3 mi 
Wednesday: Cross-train / Pilates Sculpt 
Thursday: 4 mi 
Friday: Cross-train 
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: 6 mi 
Total: 13 mi
