Kayaking Sanibel Island

Yesterday my Dad and I went to Sanibel Island to kayak.  We rented from Tarpon Bay Explorer and I would highly recommend them.  We got there around 1pm and it was pretty busy.  We quickly ate our lunch and checked in, the 'host' told us we'd have about a 10 minute wait.  It was definitely less than that.  After we signed away our lives and promised to not get out of the boats in the preserve we were sent out to sea, err bay.  Thankfully at the last minute one of the employees told us which way to go to follow the kayaking trail.

Attempting the self photo but took over my dad's face.

We followed the trails into the mangrove where my dad and I had a repeating conversations asking if the groves grew man.  or what do "mangroves grow".  We are easily amused. We floated around the trail, saw some flying mullets. While seeing rednecks flying through the air would have been pretty awesome, I learned that mullets are a type of fish and they pop/fly out of the water.  It was cool to see, and thankfully they weren't flying that close, being hit in the face with a fish would be something that would happen to me.

  2. Looks like fun! I have a Groupon dealie to go kayaking on the Chicago River. Also, I would be freaked out by flying fish.
