Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard of Jillian Michael's 30 day shred.(if you have any interest in workout videos) I'm not sure when I bought mine, except that it was when I was living in San Diego, so it could have been anywhere from when it came out in 2008 - August 2010. Once upon a time, I remember doing all 3 workouts at once as an alternative to going for some of my runs. (and to think I felt out of shape then!)
I've kept the DVD and it has moved around with me, but I haven't given it a second chance until now. After I was publicly embarrassed by my lack of conditioning, I knew I had to do something.
So on January 2nd, I searched through all of my belonging and found my trusty Jillian Michaels DVD. These videos are no joke if you're willing to put in some effort. I'm proud of myself for completing all 30 days. I'm much better at leaving a job half finished than complete. It did take me 34 days to complete with some travel, and outdoor fun that interrupted the flow but overall stuck with it.
I didn't do any pre-photos or measurements but I can tell you for sure, that I have more muscle definition in my arms, abs, and legs than before I started 30 day shred. By the end I was no longer needing to do the modifications.
Now, 34 days later, I can focus on my next challenge, which is Marathon Training.
Yup, after a wicked long hiatus from injury I am aiming to get that 3rd marathon. I'm not expecting miracles or PRs ( although both would be appreciated) but for now my goal is to increase my fitness and up my mileage until the Lake Placid Marathon on June 9th.
