2012 Goals

I like clean starts and new beginnings.  As a teacher, I'm lucky to be able to encounter them twice.  Once in January and again in September.  I know that I shouldn't have to wait until a specific time to start fresh, but something about it seems more hopeful than trying to begin new on any regular old Tuesday.  2011 was a challenging year  as I struggled through teaching in DC and again in July when I dealt with the grief of my childhood dog's accidental death.  I traveled in Spain alone for 3 months, something I never thought I would be capable of doing.  I met some of the most amazing people and also pushed myself completely out of my comfort zone for three months.  Coming home has been a bit of a whirlwind,  I came home just in time for the holidays which has been great with reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones as well.  Now with the madness of thanksgiving, friendsgivings, holiday parties, ugly sweater parties, christmas eve, christmas day, and new years eve finally behind us, it is time to start fresh yet again.

I am a special education teacher, and I love setting goals, so even though I had 10% completion on last years resolutions, the eternal hopeful in me is going to try again.  This year, many of my goals are interconnected to fitness.  IThe whole point is to grow, so long as I continue to move forward, specifically attaining these resolution/goals isn't the important part.

So here is to 2012

  1. Yoga once a week 
  2. Complete a full cycle of p90x
  3. Complete 12 things off my life list
  4. Run a 5k in under 25 Minutes
  5. Run a 5k in 21 Minutes (21:59 is acceptable)
  6. Volunteer 1x per Month (/12)
  7. Read 36 books a year (/36)
  8. Run 3x a week (/156)
  9. Workout in the morning once a week. (be fore 6am)  (/52)
  10. Follow 1 new recipe a week (/52)

  2. i cant wait to follow you in achieving your goals..I'm actually trying healthy habits this year...lets see if this will help me stick to them!

  3. Great goals! I found that I can't stick to goals that require me to do something time-measured (per week/month basis), but I may try having those goals written somewhere? I love your goal to volunteer. I really need to make more of an effort.
