These past few weeks have been challenging. I have been very fustrated with the school system and my inability to create any change. But, I've had a quote saved for a while that helped me re-evaluate the whole crappy situation.

You will never be happier than you expect. To change your happiness, change your expectation

I have been taking on the challenge of picking my battles. I will not be able to change the personalities of some of the administration that can be challenging, but I can bust my butt the best way I know how and hope for the best.

I've decided to try sending out bi/tri weekly emails with homework reminders ( we operate on an a/b schedule) in hopes that it will increase homework turned in. While I know, this is not appropriately preparing the students for college, but lets be honest, I need to keep the realistic goals in sight first. And thats for the students to LEARN.

I have been feeling a lot more positive which has been most certainly to the help of my former Audeo Co-workers who have been sending me materials that I can use with my students here. I am so grateful to have worked with such wonderful and intelligent people.

Another big goal of mine is to learn more names! Each class only anywhere between 25-40 students and I am in 8 classes. So needless to say, I am overwhelmed with new names and faces. My goal is to know all of the names of all of the students in my 1B class by the end of this week.

Suggestions on how to remember names is welcomed :)
