Life has been pretty quiet these past few days. FPCS gave us Monday & Tuesday off this week, so I spent my days visiting museums (National Museum of Natural History and National Museum of American History) and navigating myself around the city a bit. Nothing too spectacular. I enjoyed the American History museum- specifically the exhibit on presidents. On both days however, I was only able to handle 2 hours or so of the crowds before I wanted to start throwing elbows. I wonder if there is ever a "down" season for tourist here. I did also eat lunch at Good Stuff Eatery in Capitol Hill. The head chef there is from Top Chef or something of the sort. I ordered the turkey burger & it was quite good - I didn't LOVE the guacamole that they make (too much lime!) but it was also a fantastic spot to people watch.
I went for a run yesterday from the house to the Washington Monument. I thought I was going to die. It was only a 4 mile run && incredibly flat but the heat/humidity kicked my butt. I did manage to survive (somehow) and I'll have to plan to run either super early tomorrow morning or late tomorrow night. I'm easing myself back into running & only aiming for 3-4 runs this week. Once I get back in the swing of things I'll look into adding 1 more it works for now.
Training dragged on yet again today. All of the admin were caught in a meeting from lunch - so the only thing I accomplished after lunch was obtaining my school ID. I still don't know what I'm teaching just yet. I suppose 11 days before the school year is a little to early to expect to know that... or something. The other SPED staff seem pretty cool though - so I am looking forward to working with them. No matter what I teach, it will be an interesting year.
